Chip Away Malaria - The Initiatives


Pistons Ticket Initiative Chip Away Malaria has partnered with the Detroit Pistons once again. Chip Away Malaria and the Pistons will be offering regularly priced $40 upper bowl tickets for $20 and regularly priced $65 lower bowl tickets priced at $40 for 9 games throughout the Pistons season. $10 from each ticket purchased will be donated to fight malaria. So with each ticket sold a bednet will be sent to Africa, saving a family from malaria.
Youth Basketball Clinic Every semester students at Central Michigan University who are involved with Chip Away Malaria hold a youth basketball clinic. Members of the CMU Men's and Women's Basketball teams have assisted with the clinics in the past. Kids all around the mid-Michigan area come out to enjoy a fun filled day of basketball.
3-Pitch Softball Tournament Chip Away Malaria has teamed up with the University Recreational Department at Central Michigan University to hold a 3-Pitch softball tournament. This tournament is in memory and honor of an original Chip Away Malaria member, LaMott Smith, who passed away from meningitis this past summer. All proceeds from the tournament will go towards the LaMott Smith Scholarship.
